Omkolthoum has over ten years of experience in governmental healthcare sector in Egypt. She has a Master degree in Public Policy from the American University in Cairo at which she was awarded for outstanding academic achievement, a Master of Business Administration from Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transportation, and a Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Ain Shams University. While working as a Senior Officer in the Technical Office for the Minister of Health and Population in Egypt (at which she was awarded for special achievement by the former Minister of Health and Population), she actively contributed in the ongoing reform process within the healthcare sector in Egypt. Previously, Omkolthoum worked with VACSERA (a national biological production organization) to produce a quality vaccines, sera, and biological products. Omkolthoum has volunteered in an NGO to serve the orphans of the local community. Omkolthoum is currently working as founder and project manager for “Reaching You” project. The project is adopting the model of ECHO institute, University of New Mexico, USA since May 2015. The project replicates ECHO model in Egypt to best serve the underserved communities. The project proposal receives a prestigious international award from World Learning Advancing Leaders Organization – Department of State, USA. Through these diverse rich experiences, Omkolthoum developed strong and diverse knowledge in health economics, strategic planning, programs monitoring and evaluation, policy advising and analysis in governmental sector, health diplomacy, establishing partnerships especially in international context, developing initiatives, negotiation and developing agreements, project coordination and implementation skills. Omkolthoum is interested in research related to vulnerable groups’ health policy issues, and has a strong passion for women empowerment.
