
Laila El Baradei is a Professor of Public Administration and Chair of the Public Policy and Administration Department, School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), the American University in Cairo (A.U.C.), Egypt.
Dr. El Baradei has been the recipient of several national and international awards. Lately in June 2024, Dr. El Baradei received the 2024 International Public Administration Award. The Award is given by the American Society for Public Administration to highlight individuals and organizations that contribute to the field of public administration internationally and contributes significantly to the field of public administration as a scholar, practitioner, or both – as demonstrated by publications, awards, honors and testimony by the recipient’s colleagues and beneficiaries of the recipient’s work.
She was the Acting Dean for the School of GAPP during the academic year 2013/2014 and served for eight other years, first as the Associate Dean for the School of GAPP, then as the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research until June 2018.El Baradei is also the Faculty Advisor for the Youssef Jameel GAPP Public Leadership Fellowship program at AUC. She is a member of the Global Steering Committee for Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society for Public Administration, and the Project Director for IASIA’s Working Group for Gender, Equity and Diversity.
