the media creation tool (mct) requires that you convert the iso to a raw image. mct lets you do that using the tool in windows disk management, or simply drag the iso into the mct. if you are not familiar with all the tools in disk management, then you can use this simple tutorial on how to convert the iso to a raw image.

once mct has converted the iso to a raw image, we can burn it to a dvd or usb drive. press the enter key on the keyboard, which will then launch the “burn image” dialog. write the image to the dvd or usb drive and proceed.

once you have created a bootable usb drive, boot from the drive and test to see if your media creation is working properly. if the os on the usb drive boots, then you have successfully created a bootable drive. if your os doesn’t boot, then you need to repeat the process.

it’s a little tricky to remove the installation tools from any other windows machines. the easy way to achieve this task is to download the windows 7 installation iso file for your chosen version of windows 7. start the windows 7 installation wizard and follow the steps. the tools will be installed as before.

using all of the commands listed below you will be able to remove all of the tools and their configuration files. but first we need to back up the windows 7 installation media and tools to a secure location. this is done to ensure they don’t get removed accidentally.

first, download the windows 7 iso file (bit or md5):

save the iso to the desktop for now. then, use the following commands to format the windows 7 installation media in ntfs format and copy the tools to a secure backup location:
