This is a way to allow for internal file links to work from a website. Specifically, there was a need to allow internal file links to network locations to work from an internal wiki. After allowing the file type of “ifile” in the wiki software, this application takes care of the rest.

iFile is a web-enabled media content management system that makes it easier for you to handle a large volume of media files. It is aimed primarily at those people who use the internet to publish and share media. The goal is to make it easier to browse, manage, and organize media files. iFile also includes a simple file manager that lets you browse the files on your computer and on networked locations.
There are three ways that iFile can function:
– As a regular file manager
– As an organizer of media files.
– As a repository of media content.
iFile’s file management is unique in that it allows you to define and manage the various collections of media files that you have. This is done through two collections: Tags and Folders.
Using tags to organize files with iFile is easy. You just use the standard hierarchical tag system of keywords. This is done in two ways: either you create a folder with keywords, or you create a bookmarkable tag on the file.
Tags are used to create a physical or logical hierarchy to the media content and can include as many keywords as you want. For example, for news files, you might create a News/Football/1987/news.txt folder. Within this folder, you might have a news.txt file with keywords Football, 1987 and news.txt with keywords Sports.
If you use the former example, the keywords would have to be typed in the file’s filename. If you use the latter example, the keywords are actually stored in the file. If you use this feature, you can define unlimited folders and keywords to handle your media.

These are not meant to manage any specific files, but rather they are meant to be used to group media content together by some common relationship. A good example of a folder you might use is an organizational folder. You can create as many folders as you want for different categories, such as News/Football/1987/Computer. Within a folder, you can have as many Tags as you want. Once you have created your folders, you can use tags to organize the files within them.

The default iFile Handler is known as the ‘Standard iFile Handler’ for the ifile type. It provides a URI in the form of file://local/path as it’s URI protocol.
After setting up the ifile server, this application is a very simple means to get the URI protocol in place. To configure this application, first:
1) Start the iFile Handler application with the ifile server being pointed to. The default port that was configured in the ifile server setup should be used.
2) Click the ‘Open’ button. Enter the path or URL where you wish to save the iFile.
