You have to know that the interface for Vortex is extremely simple and easy to use, however, it can be very confusing at first. All you have to do is drag, drop, open, close, mute and adjust parameters and no matter which instrument you are using, it will feel natural.
Vortex features several instruments:
a) An AD-11 synth (analog)
b) A VST-5 synth (virtual)
c) A polysynth
d) A 4 oscillators (vectors)

a) The AD-11 is analog, and features 2 analog sequencers (4-track). The AD-11 can be compared to the Yamaha DX7.
b) The VST-5 is a VST version of the previous instrument and features 2 VST-5 sequencers (4-track).
c) The polysynth is a synth with 10 patches and it features a single track.
d) The 4 oscillators feature 4 tracks and each can be used individually as a synth or for sequencing.
There are 2 types of sequencers for each of the instruments. The first sequencer is for triggering and the second one for routing.

Each of the instruments has two sequencers, namely “pitch” and “mute”. The pitch sequencer is only for triggering the instrument. The mute sequencer controls whether the instrument is on or off.

A note can be of the following types:
C: piano
U: vocal
P: strings
B: brass
E: strings
G: strings
D: guitars
A: drums
X: bass

Any combination of these instruments can be played in real time, by using the MIDI layer.
So, an example: you want to play the bass guitar part and the drums, using the AD-11 synth and the VST-5 synth. You have to follow the steps below:

1. Put the AD-11 into the “pitch” sequencer of the AD-11 synth and assign the C# (middle C) to “A3” (open the assignment window and type in the following: AD-11→C#; AD-11→A3).

2. Put the VST-5 synth into the “pitch” sequencer of the VST-5
